Future career

When you were five, what did you want to be when you grew up?

When I was about that age I imagined my future career as a lion tamer. I feel I have achieved that goal. First as a teacher, trying to tame classes of 25+ kindergarten students. Second (after my earlier than usual mid-life crisis) as a child and family therapist. There have been many times when a situation was “my circus and it had my monkeys”.

At the time of pondering my future career I did not realize the cruelty involved in forcing wild animals to live in cages and perform tricks in front of crowds. I just saw someone who got to “play” with really big cats. But society has evolved, somewhat, and thankfully animal welfare has evolved with it.

Lions, and other wild animals, should be allowed to live in their natural environments. A lion’s favorite thing to do is to nap in the shade. The lioness is the one who does the hunting. I guess at home the humans are lionesses and our cat is the leader of our little herd.

There are actually jobs working as a wildlife rehabilitator in case you were wondering. I think one major career change in a lifetime is good so I stay where I am.

Even if I don’t tame any actual lions, I can try to help you tame your inner lions/ negative thoughts. Check this page to learn about services offered.
