
Can you believe it is already May? What are some things that you see that have changed? Do you see any flowers in your neighborhood? Do you see piles of snow on the ground? Is it sunny until after dinner time? Are there different things you hear? If I have my windows open, I can hear people playing in the park, lawn mowers, birds singing. What do you hear? Can you smell anything different? I can smell the neighbors grilling hamburgers.
Using your senses is a great way to help calm yourself when you are overwhelmed. It is called grounding. Ask yourself what you can see, feel, hear, smell and taste. When we are worried or anxious it can help us get out of our head and into our bodies. It might also help you notice a sense that is bothering you. If you are bothered by the sound of a lawnmower or the smell of cut grass, you might close the window until they are finished mowing.
Spring weather can be unpredictable. Get ready for sunny days, rainy days, storms and everything else. Here are some ideas of activities to do in spring. What do you like to do on rainy days?
