Daily Question-What brings me joy?

What’s a simple pleasure in life that brings you joy?

Being in nature brings me joy. Now that it is spring and the tornados have stopped for a while, we can be outside. I enjoy seeing the daily changes in my yard. The flowers on the apple trees, the brief few days the crocuses are up, and the daffodils as well. Bumble bees make me laugh. They are so well named. The seem to be incapable of flying in a straight line. The bump into flowers, fence posts and branches but they keep going. When they land on a flower it is almost a moment of relief. A moment of rest to drink nectar before flying off again.

Seeing the bumble bee struggle to fly makes me think of the weight of the emotional baggage we all carry. We seem to fumble through life going this way and that only to land out of pure exhaustion. How would our lives be different if we got rid of that emotional baggage. Would we be less exhausted? Less angry? Less distracted? Do honey bees not have emotional baggage? The seem very precise in their flight.

If we took more time to land and notice things around us, we might be happier. We might see things that make us laugh. Watching a robin hop around the yard is amusing. So much energy spent to find a worm to eat. It makes me grateful that I don’t have to forage for my own food.

Stop to listen to nature in the spring. The birds you hear are different at different times of the day. After a lot of rain, we can hear frogs in the nearby pond. At night we can hear crickets. In summer we can see fireflies in the back yard. It helps that we do not use chemicals in the yard. This post makes we want to go outside and enjoy nature.
