Hedgehogs are emotional creatures. They are the embodiment of anxiety. Here is a clip of Heinrich, my hedgehog, working through confidence, anxiety, courage and napping. This behavior helps keep them safe from dangers but it also keeps them from enjoying life. Real hedgehogs in the wild do have to worry about being eaten by larger animals. As humans we do not have to retreat quite so much many times a day.
At Happy Hedgehog Counseling you will discover that you do not have to be a scared hedgehog all curled up. You can feel calm and relaxed in a safe place. When a hedgehog is calm and happy it can run around and live a happy hedgie life. One book that I really like is “When Harley Has Anxiety“. It is about a little hedgehog who gets invited to his friend’s house. The problem is that his friend is a squirrel and lives in a tree. What should Harley do? What do you think you would do? Do you ever have trouble with friends? Here is another book recommendation.
